WELCOME The Dairy & Heritage Museum |
|

| The
Dairy and Heritage Museum is located in the middle of a peaceful, wooded,
scenic area, in the southern part of the Township of Malahide, Elgin
County (click
for location map). The museum is operated by a family who has been in the dairy industry for five generations. We have committed ourselves to preserve and protect as many artifacts as we can. With over 10,000 feet of exhibit space we are confident that you will find many items of special interest to you. Many of which are bound to evoke many pleasant memories for the older folk. Our aim is to inform visitors about farming and the dairy industry of the past and present. This is why we ask if you have any artifacts, pictures, etc., that you are ready to discard, please let us know. As you stroll through the grounds close to the shore of Lake Erie, our remarkable museum will take you back in time. You will remember the familiar clop-clop of the horse-drawn delivery wagons at the crack of dawn, and understand what it was like to operate a foot-powered milker. A very important display is our "Dairy Wall of Fame". Dating back to 1956 all of the Ontario and Elgin County Dairy Princesses are pictured. These young ladies have played a very important role in the development of the industry and bring forward to the public the importance and the health value of dairy products. Be sure to see our display of hand tools, planters and seeders of many kinds, haying equipment, harvesting grain, etc. Also tools of different trades. And while you are here, don't forget to visit our "old time" country store display. |
