George married (1) Mary MULLINS on 11 Jun 1828 in Kanawha, West Virginia. Mary was born about 1807 and died about 1852/1859.
In the 1830 census for Kanawha, West Virginia, 195 line 10 - Washington Handley (sic), head, with one female under 5, one male 15-20, one female 20-30, and no slaves. According to the Kan Family Tree Project, this would be their first child Caroline, born in 1829 according to the 1880 census where she is listed with husband Henry J. Davis.
In the 1840 census - (from KOHS) - the 1840 Tax List for Kanawha Co. All the H's were grouped together, and they were not alphabetical. On the list of Felix Hanarord, commissioner of the revenue, we find Washington Hundley, no slaves, 1 horse, colt or mule, and no pleasure carriages. For the lower district, list of Wm Wilson, commissioner, we find William Henley 1 horse, etc; Sam Hanly 2 slaves over 12 yrs old and 7 horses, colts or mules; and A. W. Hanly 1 slave over 12, 2 horses, etc, and 1 Barouche [carriage] valued at $150, but no Hundleys. I don't know who these other people are.
