First Generation
1. Mildred Jane HUNDLEY was born about 1812 in Albemarle, Virginia. She died after 1880 in Adams, Ohio.
Mildred married Henry S. GILLESPIE, son of William Abner GILLESPIE and Mary, about 1831 in Virginia. Henry was born about 1810 in Virginia. He died 1870/1880 in Bradyville, Adams, Ohio.
In the 1840 census at South Greenbrier Twp., South Greenbrier, Virginia (now West Virginia.), p. 217, is Henry Gillaspie, He is given as age 30-40 (a good fit), his wife is age 20-30 (good fit), 3 boys are under age 5 (a good fit for Hamilton S., B.F. and Thomas) 1 boy is 5-10 (good fit for William H.), one girl is under 5 (good fit for Marietta who was possibly born about 1835/6) and one girl is 5-10 (good fit for Martha Jane if born about 1830/1) Henry is not far from Austin and John HUNLEY and next to him are Henry Hedrick, John Mason, David Price and Adam Bowyn.
In the 1850 census at Dist. 1, Pendleton, Kentucky, p. 376, Henry Gillaspy (index gives him as "Gillaspi", 40, Physician, with wife, Mildred J., 38, and children, William H, 18, Margetta, 16, Henry L., 15, B. F. (male), 12, Thomas M., 10, all born Virginia and N. S., 8, Sarah M., 4, Rebecca, 1, all born Kentucky. Nearby at p. 377 is Mildred's sister Martha GILLESPIE and her husband Wiliam Abner.
In the 1860 census for Lewis Co., Kentucky, p. 141, Henry S. Gillaspie, 49, farmer born Virginia with wife Mildred J., born Virginia with children, Staple, 15, born Virginia and Sarah, 14, Rebecca A., 12, Fonoina, 10, Georgia A., 6, Next to them is Hamilton S. Gillespie, 24, farmer born Virginia with wife, Lydia C., 20.
In the 1870 census at Liberty, Adams, Ohio, p. 91, Henry Gillespie, 57, Veterinary Surgeon with wife Mildred, 55, both born Virginia with children, Rebecca, 20 and Georgiana, 15 both born at Kentucky. Living next to them is their son "Stape" Gillespie, 25, born Virginia with his wife, Eliza, 22 with children, Richard, 3 and Alice, 1, both born at Kentucky. He is a farm Laborer.
In the 1880 census at Bradyville, Sprigg, Adams, Ohio, p. 180B, Mildred Gillespie, 66, born Virginia, father born Ireland, mother born Virginia. She is a boarder with Clayton Lunsford, 31, born Kentucky, farmer with wife, Elizabeth, 21 born KY, Parents born Kentucky. They have a child, Elmer E., 2 born Kentucky. This would indicate that Henry had died before 1880 also in Ohio.

The Barton Papers at Pendleton, Kentucky Library give that Henry was a Root Doctor.
He was born abt 1810 in VA. He died at Bradyville, OH near Aberdeen [Aberdeen OH is in Brown County just west of Manchester, OH in Adams County] which is just across the Ohio River from Maysville, KY (Mason Co.) In 1936 Rev. J. H. Sharp listed Dr. Henry and Millie /Hunley/ Gillespie's children: -William Henry (lived in Mason Co., KY) -Hamilton (lived in Mason Co., KY), m. ___ Gribble, at Dover, Mason Co., KY. Ran livery barn in Dover. -Stape (some say Stope) died in OH -Martha Jane m. Riley Sharp, son of John "Jack" Sharp and Jennette McClanahan -Mary Etta m. George Marshall (she died in asylum) -Sallie m. Dick Kirk, a widower, lived back of Minerva, Mason Co., KY -Becky (lived in OH, died at Bradyville, OH) -Fannie didn't marry -Georgia Ann, didn't marry Note at end of this says, "Henry Gillespie settled in Dover, Mason Co. Went to Bradyville, O -- across from Maysville, back 18 mi. from Aberdeen.
Another sheet of notes from Barton papers:
"Info given to Mr. Barton by J. H. Sharp, 10/14/36 --Dr. Henry Gillespie was a root doctor. He died at Bradyville, back of Aberdeen, O. He used to live east of Falmouth, about in the Doll/?/ neighborhood. There is where Riley Sharp got acquainted with the woman whom he married. Think it was the Doll House where Dr. Henry Gillespie lived. Dr. Henry Gillespie was 1/2 bro of Tyra Gillespie. Dr. Henry was a son of old Billie Gillespie. He and his father . . .married sisters. Dr. Henry m. Millie Hunley of VA. He stole her away from VA; think they m. in VA."
There is also a law suit filed in Pendleton Co. by William H. Gilaspy and his father Henry S. (or L) Gilaspy, the son having been beaten by a Thomas J.Oldham. William H. injured and asking for $250 damages. Filed Oct 18, 1849.
Another note about Dr. Henry Gillespie filed by Albert Mayfield Gillespie 10/18/45 says Henry lived a while in Lewis Co., KY. Died in Adams Co. O.
Henry and Mildred had the following children:
2 F i. Martha Jane GILLESPIE was born ca 1830. She married Riley Sharpe about 1849. He was born about 1849.
In the 1850 census for Pendleton, KY (dwelling and family #387), Martha Jane Sharpe, 20 with husband Riley SHARPE, 21. They are living with a Jenetha Sharpe, 28 (sister?). Also with them is Tyre GILLESPIE, 22 and wife Lucy GILLESPIE, 18 as well as a bunch of other SHARPE relations. Tyre is Martha Jane's cousin and Lucy SHARPE (wife of Tyre) is likely related to Riley SHARPE.3 M i. William Henry GILLESPIE was born 1832 in Virginia. (lived in Mason Co., KY)
4 F ii. Marietta GILLESPIE was born about 1833 in Albemarle Co., Virginia.
Marietta married George MARSHALL on 17 Nov 1857 in Pendleton, Kentucky.
5 M iii. Hamilton S. GILLESPIE was born about 1834 in Virginia.
Hamilton married Lydia C. GRIBBLE before 1860.
In the 1870 census for Dover, Mason, Kentucky, Hamilton Galaspie, 36, born Virginia, with wife, Liddie C., 30, Keeping House and with them is Elizabeth Kirk, 7, born Kentucky and Benjamin Mild, 20 laborer born Bavaria.6 M v. B. F. GILLESPIE was born about 1838 in Virginia.
7 M vi. Thomas M. GILLESPIE was born about 1840 in Virginia.
+ 8 M vii. Nehemiah Staples GILLESPIE was born about 1842 and died after 1870.
9 F viii. Sarah M. GILLESPIE was born about 1846 in Kentucky. Sallie married Dick KIRK. (lived at Mason Co., KY)
10 F ix. Rebecca A. GILLESPIE was born about 1848 in Kentucky. She died after 1880 in Bradyville, Ohio. She was single in Ohio in 1870. Never married.
11 F x. Fannie GILLESPIE was born about 1850 in Kentucky.
12 F xi. Georgiana GILLESPIE was born about 1854 at Kentucky. She was single in Ohio in 1870. Never married.
Second Generation
8. Nehemiah Staples GILLESPIE (Mildred Jane) was born about 1842 in Virginia. He died after 1870.
Nehemiah married Eliza. Eliza was born about 1848.
In the 1870 census at Liberty, Adams, Ohio, p. 91, Henry Gillespie, 57, Veterinary Surgeon with wife Mildred, 55, both born Virginia with children, Rebecca, 20 and Georgiana, 15 both born at Kentucky.
