Randolph Hundley is named as a son in the Pension file for Nehemiah Hundley who died in 1833. There were no other Randolph Hundley in the area at the time. Randolph is is found in various censuses from 1820 to 1870 where his age would indicate that he was born anywhere between 1789 and 1794.

In the 1820 census at Albemarle Co. Virginia, is "Randolph Handly", p. 27. Randolph is of age 16 and under 26 which means that he was born between 1794 and 1804. His wife is in the same age bracket. They have one son, under 10 (born probably about 1818). Randolph is engaged in Agriculture. No slaves. He is residing next to Wm. Garth, Michael Johnston and Lewis Teel who possess slaves. In the 1840 census for St. Anne's, Albemarle, Virginia is Ran Hundley (index gives "Ross Hundley") 9 members in the family. 2 M i. HUNDLEY was born about 1818 in Albemarle, Virginia.
(He is listed in 1820 and 1830 census with family but not in 1840 census)
[Terry Hundley is investigating the possibility that William T. HUNDLEY, born about 1818 who removed to Clay Co., Illinois and is there in 1880 is a grandson of Nehemiah. There is some circumstantial evidence that indicates that William T. could fit as a son of Randolph. See Register for William T. Hundley.]+ 3 F ii. Angeline also married (2) Peter W. EASTMAN, son of Samuel EASTMAN and Anna FULLINGTON, on 13 Sep 1855 in Kane Co., Illinois. Peter was born 1809 in Vermont and died after 1860.
(No divorce record for Peter and Angeline have been found and no Illinois marriage registration for Angeline and Admiral have been located. Peter was still living single in 1860 while Angeline is enumerated with A. R. Garvin and 5 of her children including Mary E. born circa 1859 who is later given as Mary E. Garvin. Does anyone what happened here?)
Angeline was also apparently not married (3) to Admiral R. GARVIN. Admiral was born about 1808 in Vermont. He died 1870/1880 in St. Charles Twp., Kane, Illinois.
In the 1850 census for Rochester, 9th Ward, Monroe, New York, p. 400, Admiral R. Garvin, 40, born Vermont with wife, Sarah A.,22, born NY and daughter Sarah A., 6, born NY.

In the 1880 census at Goodfarm Twp., Grundy, Illinois, p. 289D, is Angeline Garvin, 52, widow, born Virginia, gives in error that she is born NY and parents born NY, with son James, Powell, 34,(ditto) born New York (should be Virginia) farm laborer, daughter, Ida 17, born Illinois, at home, Grandson, Pierre Lee, 9, born Illinois. (Pierre was a child of Angeline's daughter Rebecca Powell.)

(Note: We are still looking for primary source evidence confirming Deletha's relationship to Randolph and his proven children)
Deletha married (1) Hiram Lemuel TUCKER, son of John TUCKER and Hannah DICKERMAN, on 21 Dec 1837 in Greenbrier, West Virginia. Hiram was born 23 Aug 1814 in Roxbury, Massachusetts. He died4 20 Mar 1853 in Campton Twp., Kane, Illinois and was buried in Whitney Cemetery, Campton Twp., Kane, Illinois.
In the 1840 Federal Census for Illinois, Kane County, the index for this census gives a Hyram, Charles and John Tucker. This census list only the heads of households but shows Hiram, between 20 and 30, living in Kane County in a no-name township with his wife, between 15 and 20, and one female under 5 whom I would presume to be Cintilla, who would have been about 1 years old. He lives next to the William Pecks, Lewis Spiney and a Benjamin Fuller. His father John Tucker was living nearby as well as Charles Tucker who was probably his brother.
In the 1850 census Campton Township, Kane County, Illinois (p. 96),Hiram Tucker, 36, a farmer from New Hampshire is living with property valued at $1500 and his wife Deletha, 28 from "Vrg". They have children Cyntha, 11, Mary J., 6, and Charles H., 1, all born in Illinois. Hortense isn't born until a year later. They are not far from family of Randolph Hundley. He may be her Uncle.
In the 1855 Illinois state census, at Campton Township, D. Tucker is listed in the with 3 members. This is Deletha Tucker, widow with three of her children. Hiram died in 1853. George [Wahington?] Tucker with 3 members is listed and Hiram's brother John R. Tucker with 7 members.
Hiram and Deletha had the following children:
+ 21 F i. Cintilla E. TUCKER was born 24 Mar 1839 and died 27 Feb 1904.

+ 25 F v. Hortense Tabitha TUCKER was born 21 Oct 1851 and died 2 Mar 1901.
Deletha also married (2) Stephen ATWOOD, son of Stephen ATWOOD and Fanny STEELE, on 6 Sep 1855 in Beloit, Wisconsin. The marriage ended in divorce. Stephen was born 29 May 1805 in Newport Twp., Sullivan, New Hampshire.
The Divorce papers are given in Kane Co. Circuit Court case #4741, Box 31 dated Feb. 1856- Deletha Ann Atwood vs. Stephen Atwood. Affidavits given by Deletha's brother-in-law Amos Atwood and brother-in-law Luke Atwood's wife. Shortly after Deletha and Stephen were married it was discovered that he still had a wife residing in Indiana.
Deletha also married (3) John William WILSON, son of WILSON, on 17 Feb 1857 in Kane, Illinois. John was born Dec 1829 in Lower Canada. He died6 23 Sep 1908 in Washington D.C. and was buried 27 Sep 1908 in Bluff City Cem., Elgin, Illinois.
In the 1860 census at Campton Township, Kane County, Illinois (p. 754, line 14),John Wilson, is age 31 ?? not really readable -but according to obit he would have been 37, is a farmer from Canada E. (Quebec) with property valued at $1,100. He is married to D. A., 38 who is from Virginia. They have children Hiram, 11, H., 9 (a girl - This must be Hortense T.) and George, 2 (by husband John). All the children were born in Illinois. This census was taken July 16, 1860. There is also a Hortense Tucker in Harlem township near Rockford living with Walter, 54 and Sarah, 44, Warner who were from CT and MD. (p. 554) on census taken Aug. 29, 1860 is Hortensia Tucker, 8, from IL, attending school. Also living with them is George Richardson, 6, and the following Warner children, Olin, 9, Wilber, 12, Martha, 15, Washington, 19 and Sarah E. 23. Walter is a farmer. The plat map of Winnebago Co. for 1871 shows his estate so he died by then. The 1886 plat map shows that Wilber had inherited this farm. Sarah was Hiram's sister and it appears that Hortense may have gone there to live with her aunt after her mother remarried or was just visiting for the summer. She apparently is shown 2 places in this census, since the census for each county were taken at different times during the summer. George Richardson was a cousin of Hortense.
In the 1865 census at Campton Township, Kane County (p. 138), is a J. Wilson, with 4 in the family living next to Wm. Welch, J. R. Tucker, S. Colman. He is in the militia. With them is a roomer, Lizzie Thompson, 47, born January 1853 in Virginia. They have been married 42 years. Deletha indicates that she had 6 children and 3 are still living. Both of John's parents were born in Canada and both of Deletha's parents were born in Virginia. Both of Lizzie's parents were born in Virginia. John was naturalized in 1844 and owns their house at 914 Larkin Ave., free and clear. Lizzie is a dress maker. Lizzie and Deletha can read, write and speak English.
John and Deletha had the following children:
26 M vi. George WILSON was born about 1858. He died before 1865 in Kane, Illinois.
+ 27 M vii. John Edgar WILSON was born Dec 1861 and died 17 Dec 1931.

(Note: We are still looking for primary source evidence confirming Calvin George's relationship to Randolph and his proven children)
Calvin married Mary C. SHAVER, daughter of George SHAVER and Isabelle RODGERS, on 8 Oct 1854 in Kane Co., Illinois. Mary was born 31 Oct 1824 in Smoot, Greenbrier, Virginia. She died7 25 Sep 1902 in Greenbrier Co., West Virginia and was buried in Somerset Cemetery, Smoot, Greenbrier, West Virginia.
Mary C. Shaver was the widow of Thomas Gilkerson when she married Calvin in Illinois in 1854. She had 6 children by him between 1841 and 1851 and is with him at Greenbrier, West Virginia in 1850. In the 1850 census for Greenbrier, Virginia, p. 309, Thomas Gilkerson, 34, born Virginia, with wife, Mary, 26, born Virginia and children, Sarah F., 9, Nancy D., 6, James M., 5, Susan J., 3, Eliza J., 2 and Nancy Parker, 26. There is also a Robert Thompson , 40, and his wife Margaret, 30, and their 6 children who were in Virginia at least up until 1846. Also listed on (p. 189/95) is a Michael Shaver, 33, a Farmer, with wife, Sarah, 32 and children, George A., 8, Mary, 6, Margaret, 4 and Charles F., 1, all born at Virginia, indicating that they had just moved to Illinois. John R. Tucker was the brother of Deletha Ann's husband Hiram L. Tucker. John R. Tucker's first wife, Jane Thompson died at Greenbrier in 1841 and is buried at the Amwell Cemetery there. In 1845 John R. Tucker, married his first wife's sister, Margaret and migrated to Campton Twp., Kane Co., Illinois. It is likely that Calvin G. Hundley journeyed with him to join his sister and family. It seems likely that Widow Mary C. Gilkerson may have accompanied her brother Michael Shaver to Illinois just before the 1850 census was taken.
In the 1860 census at Greenbrier, Virginia (now West Virginia) , p. Calvin G. Hunley, 36, Farmer, with wife, Mary C., 36, and Mary's children by her first marriage, Nancy Gilkinson, 16, Harvey Gilkison, 14, Susan Gilkison, 12, Eliza Gilkison, 10, Robert Gilkison, 8, and Calvin's children by Mary C., Margaret E., 5, and John M., 2, Hunley. They are all given as being born in Virginia. This may be in error since they may have been born in Illinois. The census was taken on the 9th of August so the birth date for Samuel below may be in error.
Note: Mary C.'s brother Peter Shaver is livng close by.
In the 1870 census at Blue Sulphur Township, Greenbrier, West Virginia, is Calvin Hunley, 46 (Series M593, roll 1687, p. 353, 354). He is a "Farmhand" with wife Mary C. She does not marry until 1874), Margaret E., 15, John M., 12, Samuel B., 10, all born Virginia and George, 8, Wm Lee, 6, Luther M., 3. born West Virginia. There is a Kane County, Illinois marriage record for the marriage of a Sarah Hundley to Lorenzo Gutchens, on 28 Sep 1854. Does anyone know who this is?
Sarah and Staples were first cousins. See the Valentine Hundley register. His Civil War service record gives; Hundley, Nehemiah S. A 76 Illinois Infantry. Private Private Hundly, Nehemiah S. Union. Capt. Harrington's Co. A. Unit 76 Illinois US Infantry. His discharge papers give that he was 5 ft. 9 in. dark complexion, light eyes, dark hair, and a carpenter by trade. His widow was Sarah Hunley previously of Kane Co., Illinois. The record confirms that Sarah married John Schalk on 24 Dec 1864 at Kane County, Illinois. The children of Sarah and Nehemiah S. are given as Josephine, born, 20 June 1858, Ellen O., b. 16 Feb. 1860 and George W., born 3 March 1862. Elizabeth Hundley (probably Sarah's mother) named as midwife. There is a reference to Randolph Hundley who was brother to Maggie Sinkler and brother-in-law Nehemiah S. (This would be John Randolph Hundley). On 19 May 1869 the brothers of Sarah J., Luther and Randolph (John R.) give affidavit of knowing the couple. Sarah's sister Margaret C. Sinkler stated that she knew family for the past 18 years. [This possibly gives a clue as to when Nehemiah and his father Valentine moved into the Illinois area]
In 1860 at Campton Twp., Kane Co., Illinois, N. S. Staples, 23, born Virginia (sic - this likely Nehemiah Staples Hundley) is a carpenter. With wife Sarah, and children Josephine b. ca. 1858, and Elinor b. at Illinois, 1859. Living with Randolph Huntly, Sarah's father.
