Albemarle County, Virginia Marriages , 1780- 1853.p. 518, Hundley, Sarah & William W. Ryan, 20 Jan 1825; brother of Nehemiah Hundley Jr., witnessed by A. H. Jameson, daughter of Nehemiah Hundley Sr., who gives his consent [B/C Papers, 1822-29]). This line has been extensively researched and documented by descendant Mark Rains.

In the 1830 census at Greenbrier Co., Virginia (now West Virginia), p. 199, William Ryan with 5 members in the family. William is age 20-30 (good fit), the oldest woman (Sarah E.) is age 20 to 30 (good fit) and 2 boys under 5 (good fit for Page and James R.) and one girl under 5 (good fit for Ann T.) Mildred H. would have been born later in the year after the census was taken. Census given alphabetically so it is not possible to determine neighbors.

In the 1840 census at Fayette Co., Virginia (now West Virginia), p. 158 is William Ryan with 10 members in the family. He is age 3-40 ( good fit) and his wife (Sally) is 30-40 (This would put her born 1800 or later) 1 boy under 5 (good fit for Edward Winston) 2 boys 5-10 ( good fit for William W. and Thomas Perry) 2 boys 10-15 (good fit for Page and James R.) 1 girl under 5 (good fit for dau., Sarah E.), 1 girl 5-10 (good fit for Mildred) and 1 girl 10-15 (good fit for Ann T.) They are living next to Price, Neal and Ramsey families.

In the 1850 census at 14th District, Fayette, Virginia (now West Virginia) p. 339 is Wm. Ryan, 46, farmer property at $800 with wife, Sarah, 47 and children, Page, 23, Wm., 17, Thomas, 16, Eliz., 16, Edward, 12, Mary, 10, Jane, 5, and Lucy, 3.

In the 1860 census at District 3, Fayette Co., Virginia (now West Virginia), p. 402, is William W. Ryan, 59, born Virginia, farmer, $1000 in real estate, with wife, Sarah, 57, and children, Elizabeth, 24, E. W., 20 and Jane, 15. Near them is Wm. W. Ryan, 26 with wife Ann, 18 and 2 small children, Jerusha, 2 or 3 or 5 and Cerry Ann, 4 months. Next to William and Sarah is their daughter Mary Bennet, 17 with husband, Thomas, 32 and a daughter, Julia, 1.

In the 1870 census at Mountain Cove, Fayette Co., West Virginia, p. 154, Wm. W. Ryan, 66 with wife, Sarah, 67 (cannot read or write) and daughter Sarah E., 34. Next to them is son William, 23 with his wife, Jennie.

Mildred married Jesse H. HUNDLEY, son of John HUNDLEY and Mary THOMAS, on 26 Oct 1848 in Fayette Co., West Virginia. Jesse was born about 1821 in Virginia. He died 8 Feb 1892 in Mountain Cove, Fayette, West Virginia.

In the 1850 census at Fayette County, Virginia (now West Virginia), ( p. 335) next to his brothers is Jesse H. Hundley, 28, with wife, Mildred H., 19 and daughter Margaret E., 6/12.

In the 1860 Census for Greenbrier Co., Virginia, p. 658, Jesse "Hundley is 40, married to Milly, 30. They have children Sarah, 8, Margaret, 10, Milly, 6, Susan 4, and Edward 2. p. 56 of annot. index indicates that she m. (2) Winfield Kenny. He is living next to his brother Skiles.

In the 1870 census at Mountain Cove, Fayette County, West Virginia, Jesse Hundley, 50, is a farmer with his wife Mildred, 40, keeping house, born VA, and children, (three daughters- census barely readable) (p. 151). His mother Mary Hundley, 76, is living nearby.

In the 1880 census at Mountain Cove, Fayette, West Virginia, p. 116A, Jesse Hundley, 63, born Virginia, Farmer, with wife, Mildred, 49, born West Virginia, Keeping House and children, Melissa J., 17, Luverna, 13, and Merdemma, 10, all born at West Virginia.

In the 1900 census for Mountain Cove, Fayette, West Virginia, ED 18, p. 5A, "Mildard Hunley", Nov 1831, Widow is living with her daughter and son-in-law Clark O'dell, 40 born at West Virginia, April 1860, farm laborer, married 17 years to Malisa, 35 born June 1865. 7 of her 8 children are still living. 7. Thomas Perry RYAN (Sarah Elizabeth) was born 23 Dec 1833 in Fayette, Virginia. He was murdered on 14 Oct 1885 in Harper District, Roane, West Virginia.

Thomas married Adaline HARPER on 28 Jul 1857 in Virginia. Adaline was born 1835 in Virginia. She died 23 Aug 1899 in West Virginia.

Thomas was the victim of a celebrated murder in Roane Co, WV. Thomas was a minister and was murdered in his own home. Some of the gang responsible were hunted by a posse and hung.
