About The Artist…
Emily grew up on a small farm in Europe where common scene was hard shell gourds, climbing around verandas and surrounding gardens. Now Emily lives and works on gourds in a tiny tourist place, Oliphant, nestled on the shores of Lake Huron in Bruce Peninsula, Ontario.
Emily is a traveler visiting many art galleries on her journey. Several years ago, in Arizona, she visited a Native art gallery where decorated gourds were spread out among life size carvings. The childhood memories on hard shell gourds generated “a call” for Emily to participate in gourd transformation.
Her carved, painted, and wood burned gourds with pine needle or sweet grass weaving are found in homes in United States, Canada and Europe. Because of historical significance of gourds in Humankind, her tireless work on hard shell gourds she considers a privilege.
She is actively participating in gourd shows
and improving her talents by taking workshops.
Presently, Emily is a member of Bruce Peninsula Society of Artists, Lions Head,
Ontario and Owen Sound Camera Club, Ontario. Her work is displayed in art galleries.
In the past, Emily’s work on Gourds has
been featured in the Sun Times and the Wiarton Echo.
