Job Creation Partnerships As an Employment Insurance (EI) intervention measure, this program is designed to assist skilled workers to obtain full-time employment. Some training included in a project is appreciated, but generally the job description outlines tasks which are not part of the job tasks of the other employees and should be of a term nature. Through these activities, the client is expected to be part of the labour force, and is in an environment that contributes to obtaining information about other possible job opportunities. Under JCP, the client is eligible to do a half-day each week of employment search or job interviews with other employers for full-time employment. Proof of such activity is required. Clients receiving EI benefits will continue to do so until the end of their claim period if it falls within the duration of the project. Depending on the job description, the projects can pay clients up to a maximum of $413 / week. Employment Assistance Services This program provides up to $1,000.00 per client for travel expenses to / from out-of-town job interviews and subsequent offers of employment. Course Purchase After an assessment of the client's long-term employment action plan, the Employment Services Worker will make a recommendation on the client's participation in a training course. The WLDM on an approval recommendation will sponsor the cost of tuition for a training course. Course Purchase Allowances This program provides a living allowance, dependant care, daily travel, and books/special costs ($500.00 each), while the client is enrolled in an approved training course. Self Employment Assistance After an assessment by the Business Development Officer and recommendation from the WDC General Manager, a client will be enrolled into the SEA program. The maximum assistance available per client is $318.00 / week, for up to 52 weeks. Skills Enhancement Training must be career/work related in order to be eligible under this program. This program is not to be used for career changes. The training must be 3 weeks or less and/or less than 20 hours / week. Employed participants will receive partial tuition, while the unemployed may receive a small tuition in full. Applicants are also subject to all other individual eligibility criteria. Employment Assistance Support After submission of information from the employer and a newly hired client, the WLDM may make a contribution to special equipment / clothing needs of clients. Targeted Wage Subsidy This program provides funding of up to 75% of a client's wages and benefits for a training period that clearly outlines training / certification and a commitment to the hiring of the client, post-training. |
