Job Creation Partnerships

As an Employment Insurance (EI) intervention measure, this program is designed to  assist skilled workers to obtain full-time employment.  Some training included in a project is appreciated, but generally the job description outlines tasks which are not part of the job tasks of the other employees and should be of a term nature.  Through these activities, the client is expected to be part of the labour force, and is in an environment that contributes to obtaining information about other possible job opportunities.

Under JCP, the client is eligible to do a half-day each week of employment search or job interviews with other employers for full-time employment.  Proof of such activity is required.  Clients receiving EI benefits will continue to do so until the end of their claim period if it falls within the duration of the project.  Depending on the job description, the projects can pay clients up to a maximum of $413 / week.

Group Course Purchase

An employer/sponsor within the community identifies a need for group training.  After the submitted proposal has been approved, the Employment Support Worker will work with the sponsor regarding assessments and selection of participants.

EI Course Purchase Allowances

Clients receiving EI benefits will continue to do so until the end of their claim period if it falls within the duration of the project.  Once benefits are exhausted, the WLDM will contribute a living allowance to the client.  EI recipients will receive dependant care and daily travel allowances while they are in an approved course.

Targeted Wage Subsidy

This program provides funding of up to 75% of a client's wages and benefits for a training period that clearly outlines training / certification and a commitment to the hiring of the client, post-training.
